THE INTERNAL NOVEMBER 3
NEWS BEFORE IT HAPPENS…

FARE YE WELL:

It is with untold sadness and weeping that we wave goodbye and bid auf wiedersehen to JURGEN HUBER who leaves New Zealand tomorrow to return to Austria, the Alps, the yodeling, the goatherds and Mama Von Huber’s apfelstrudel. Jurgen has been a fantastic intern to host- he taught me to say many things in German which I will never forget like;

What time is it: Ich habe durchfall.

How are you: Ich bin schwanger.

Hello young lady: Wievel mochten sie.

Jurgen, thank you, goodbye and good luck with your geschlechts-krankheit (studies).

Also ending their internships but not leaving the country immediately is ANDREA KAMLAGE, INA STRIDDE and CHRISTINA WERMES.

Andrea has been like gold in the New Zealand College reception and office area. She had her job description greatly increased and expanded when Charlotte went on maternity leave but coped with the new responsibilities like a true professional. Not only can she now walk to the Post Office with her eyes closed, she also knows a lot about showing DVD movies, can pronounce one thousand Chinese names and knows where the best muffins are to be bought.

Ina began her visit to New Zealand with a few days learning to surf at Mt. Manganui and it appears the white sands and the blue waters of the Pacific Ocean beach captured her heart. We can’t seem to get her away from the place! Over the coming weeks Ina will travel through both north and south islands as she checks out the beaches, mountains and fun to be had in Aotearoa.

Christina will be on television in the new-year as part of a television show made while she was an intern at the SPCA. Caring for lost, unwanted and abused animals can be traumatic and very emotional yet Christina showed a mature and strong attitude whether it was cleaning the animals’ cages or comforting them as they were put to death. At times she had to help other staff members who found it all too much. A fantastic effort from a wonderful intern.

To you three, we say- safe travels, happy adventures and go a little crazy in this the ADVENTURE CAPITOL OF THE WORLD.

LOOK WHO’S HERE:

Roll out the RED CARPET for our October arrivals:

DANIEL RINTELMANN arrived on 17 October

He is 25 years old and is studying Communications Management and Marketing in Berlin. With an internship still to be confirmed Daniel is currently perfecting his English at the New Zealand College. Before he returns to Germany he would like to have a tattoo and a bungee jump.

NINA VON KANITZ arrived on 21 October

She turned 23 just before coming to New Zealand and is studying Communications Management and Marketing in Berlin. No, this is not a typing error- they are classmates. They assure me, JUST CLASSMATES. So, you ask- why does Nina buy Daniels food shopping and cook for him…Shhhhhhh, it’s a secret. Nina is our homeless intern and will be travelling until the middle of November before beginning an internship in event management.

CHRISTINE LOESDAU arrived on 24 October

She is 23 years old and studying Communication and Advertising in Hannover. Blessed is a good word for Christine- she is blessed with a less than 5 minute walk to her internship, blessed to have good flat mates and blessed with an internship at Shine TV- a new Christian television station. The only thing she is not blessed with at the moment- is a cold. But, blessingly- even that is getting better.

ARNO HUHN arrived on 29 October (we think, cause we haven’t seen him yet)

This 25 year old is from Pforzheim and majored in Business Administration. BSL is considering an internship placement for Arno and we HOPE to hear from the Monday. This is Arno’s second time in New Zealand, he was here last year as a traveller, and in December he will be sharing this awesome country with his girlfriend who will be coming down to join him for some weeks. Will we eve see Arno??

TORSTEN FELDMANN (see his CV photo) arrived on 31 October

He is 24 years old and comes from Magdeburg where he is a student of Industrial Business Management. No jet lag for Torsten on arrival in Auckland as he has been swaying like the palm trees and swimming like the fish in Rarotonga, Cook Islands for the last 4 days. Now back in the real world, he will soon begin his internship at MBE and is looking forward to tasting a wide range of hamburgers and fries while in New Zealand.

To you five, we say- enjoy the sunshine, look LEFT before you cross the road and remember we are here to support you in any way.

WOXA HOUSE

32B Dean Street. Grey Lynn, AUCKLAND.

Phone: (00 64 9) 376 6852

The idea came from a conversation with Hubi. The urgency came from Jeannette wanting to leave the Lodge she was in. The hurry up came from Gunther also wanting somewhere else to live. So, the search began.

A house was found which was pretty close to the City, was on a good bus route, handy to pubs, clubs and close to food places. A group of four interns went to look at it- liked what they saw and two, Jeannette and Heiko, said they would like to live there- the owner also liked the idea of WOXA and we were eventually offered the house.

Two weeks later- it is furnished, has 6 residents, a small mountain of empty beer bottles and one homeless intern until she goes travelling. Known as WOXA House, it has a great atmosphere and a happy feeling.
