Students from all over the world travel to New Zealand on a Working Holiday Visa to work temporarily.

We welcome students wanting to gain work experience for a short time. Students bring New Zealand skills we need in our workforce, there can be special visa arrangements for students with special skills. New Zealanders are interested overseas students working in New Zealand because it exposes New Zealand to global skills and knowledge.



Can I work temporarily in New Zealand?

New Zealand is looking for students that have skills that employers are unable to find in New Zealand.

You can apply for a temporary Work Permit if you:

* have an offer of a job from a New Zealand employer
* are skilled in an occupation that’s in demand here
* want to work here temporarily for a particular purpose or event such as a tournament, a show or for certain professional reasons
* are a student or trainee wanting to gain work experience in New Zealand
* are planning to work temporarily while joining your partner here.

To keep up our good standards and reputation, we do have some definite rules and requirements that workers from other countries have to meet.
